Gay pride parade takes over Copacabana beach this Sunday.
The event will feature 15 sound trucks and will also include community outreach initiatives such as encouraging HIV testing and hepatitis B vaccination.
Copacabana will host the 16th LGBT Pride Parade this Sunday (9) starting at 13 pm. The event is organized by the Arco-Íris LGBT Citizenship Group and this year will have the motto “We are all equal before peace — All forms of violence must be a crime”, an allusion to Article 5 of the Federal Constitution.
The event will feature 15 sound trucks and will also include civic initiatives such as encouraging HIV testing and hepatitis B vaccination. Up to one million male condoms, including "teen" and "extra" sizes, will also be distributed, along with gel sachets and female condoms.
The LGBT Pride Parade is sponsored by the State Government, through the Secretariat of Social Assistance and Human Rights; the city government, through the Special Coordination for Sexual Diversity and the Municipal Health Secretariat; and Petrobras.
