Mayor Eduardo Paes (PMDB) interacted with followers on Twitter; to a resident of Rio de Janeiro who posted that "90% of the disgust" he feels about living in the city "is because of" Paes, he suggested that he move away; "Useless culture, kind of slow, kind of deaf (not physically but to hearing others). Move away, man!", he wrote; Paes also complained about the criticism he received: "Stop being grumpy, man. Have a beer, play some soccer, go to bed early, go to church, go on a date. Sunday is okay."

Newspapers in Brazil - Mayor Eduardo Paes made a series of posts and interacted with Twitter users this Sunday (10). To one of them, a resident of Rio de Janeiro who posted that "90% of the disgust" he has for living in the capital of Rio de Janeiro "is because of" Paes, he suggested that he move. "Useless culture, kind of slow, kind of deaf (not physically but to hear others). Move away, man!", wrote the mayor.

Paes' advice is reminiscent of the slogan created during the dictatorship, under the government of Emílio Garrastazu Médici: "Brazil, love it or leave it".

Eduardo Paes's response referenced the internet user's own description on his Twitter profile ("PhD in useless culture - half deaf, half slow").

Asked by another Twitter user for his advice, Paes replied: "[He] said he wants to move. As far as I'm concerned, he can stay. But if you look at his profile, I think he lives in Maricá! I'll go visit him next week."

"Useless culture, kind of slow, kind of deaf (not physically, but in terms of hearing others). Change it, man!"

Paes also complained about the criticism he received: "Stop being grumpy, man. Have a beer, play some soccer, go to bed early, go to church, go on a date. Sunday is okay."

The other user, who asked about trips to Paris, said: "You're confusing me."
