The Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) has announced that all undergraduate, graduate, and basic education activities are suspended on all campuses. "Essential activities aimed at serving the public and maintaining the university will continue to operate, according to a work plan organized by the sectors. Late Monday afternoon, the university administration will assess the situation and issue a new statement, which will be published on the official UFRJ website," the statement said.
The Federal Fluminense University (UFF), based in Niterói, also decided to suspend activities. “There is a direct impact on urban mobility, public safety, and the proper functioning of institutions. Given this situation, we have decided to suspend UFF activities this coming Monday, except for those considered essential for serving the public or for maintaining the university. At the end of Monday, we will make a new assessment of the situation, aiming to make a decision regarding UFF's operations throughout the week,” the statement said.
The Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Unirio) has suspended educational activities on Monday. "The Unirio administration announces that undergraduate and graduate activities will be suspended on May 28th at all campuses due to the consequences of the serious urban mobility crisis resulting from fuel shortages. Essential administrative activities will continue. The administration will continue to monitor developments in this crisis and will issue a new statement next Monday regarding the rest of the week."
The Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ) has also decided to suspend classes. "We announce the suspension of academic activities on UFRRJ campuses and the waiving of absences for staff.
