The presiding judge of the Criminal Execution Court, Eduardo Oberg, determined, this Monday (20), the urgent transfer of the drug trafficker Edson Pereira Firmino de Jesus, known as Zaca, from the Vicente Piragibe Penal Institute to the Laércio da Costa Pellegrino Penitentiary (Bangu 1), in the Gericinó Complex.
Zaca is the uncle of drug trafficker Nicolas Labre Pereira de Jesus, known as Fat Family, rescued by armed men this Sunday (19) from the Souza Aguiar Municipal Hospital, in downtown Rio.
The judge's decision was based, among other reasons, on news reports and an audio recording disseminated through the WhatsApp application, in which a criminal communicates with Zaca and celebrates Fat Family's release from the hospital.
“Such evidence, supported by strong doctrine and jurisprudence, indicates that the judge must adopt a precautionary measure to safeguard public safety,” stated Judge Eduardo Oberg. The head of the Criminal Enforcement Court also ordered the Homicide Division to open an investigation into the conduct of Zaca and other inmates within the prison system.
