"Not pursuing Temer's impeachment is part of the coup process."
Deputy Wadih Damous (PT-RJ) recalls that the impeachment process against the interim president "has been paralyzed since the time of Eduardo Cunha for political reasons. Not moving forward with the process is part of the coup process"; "It is up to the PT leadership to request measures to establish the commission," he adds; in April, Minister Marco Aurélio Mello, of the STF, ordered that the then president of the Chamber, Eduardo Cunha (PMDB-RJ), receive one of the impeachment requests against Temer and send the case for analysis by a special commission to be formed in the House.
247 - Federal deputy Wadih Damous (PT-RJ) criticized the fact that the impeachment request against interim president Michel Temer is stalled in the Chamber of Deputies.
In April of this year, Supreme Court Justice Marco Aurélio Mello ordered that the then-Speaker of the House, Eduardo Cunha (PMDB-RJ), receive one of the requests and send the case for analysis by a special committee to be formed in the House.
"The process has been stalled since Eduardo Cunha's time for political reasons. Not moving forward with the process is part of the coup plot," the congressman criticizes. "It is up to the PT leadership to request measures to establish the commission," he demands.
Other PT deputies, such as Maria do Rosário (RS) and Reginaldo Lopes (MG), also criticized the paralysis. "It is extremely difficult for the coup government to be confronted by the Chamber and to install the commission. We know that the definitive removal of Eduardo Cunha could offer us better conditions for this," they assessed.
The delay in structuring the commission led Congressman Glauber Braga (PSOL-RJ) to demand, in plenary session, that the interim president of the Chamber, Waldir Maranhão (PP-MA), take a stand. According to Braga, the delay disrespects the decision of the Supreme Federal Court. Maranhão withdrew the point of order presented, a procedure foreseen in the Chamber's rules of procedure, which does not stipulate a deadline for a response.
