Woman found dead at home in southern São Paulo alongside her daughter; case is being treated as femicide.
Police are investigating suspicions against the partner after the 34-year-old victim was found dead next to her two-year-old daughter in the Saúde neighborhood.
247 - A 34-year-old woman was found dead inside her home in the Saúde neighborhood, in the southern part of São Paulo, on Saturday night (31). The body was in the bedroom of the property, where the victim's two-year-old daughter was also present. The incident mobilized the Military Police and is being investigated as a femicide and domestic violence, reports the Folha de São Paulo.
According to the Military Police, there are indications that the woman and child were held captive for more than a day. The main suspect is the victim's partner, who lived at the location and against whom a police report had already been filed for domestic violence. The police found signs of aggression on the woman's face.
The child was rescued by the Mobile Emergency Care Service (SAMU) and initially taken to the Vila Mariana Emergency Care Unit (UPA). During the examination, professionals identified signs of sexual violence, which prompted the girl's transfer to the Women's Hospital for specialized care.
According to the São Paulo Public Security Secretariat (SSP), the victim had a restraining order in effect against her partner. The case continues to be investigated as a femicide, with aggravating factors related to domestic and family violence.
The woman's father reported that he heard arguments between the couple between Friday night (30) and Saturday morning. He stated that he even threatened to call the police, but, as the noises stopped, he believed that the situation had been resolved. On Saturday, when trying to contact his daughter and not getting a response, he decided to call the Military Police.
When officers arrived at the residence, they found the woman dead, unclothed, and the child still in the crib. The property underwent forensic examination, and the investigation was forwarded to the 2nd Women's Defense Police Station (DDM) in the southern zone, which is responsible for conducting the investigations.
