Inquiry by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Rio de Janeiro investigates the president of the CNC.

The Public Prosecutor's Office of Rio de Janeiro has opened an investigation into the management of the president of the National Confederation of Commerce (CNC), Antonio Oliveira Santos. He and Luiz Gil Siuffo Pereira, director of Sesc, are held responsible for the suspicious expenditure of R$ 200 million on a construction project in Barra da Tijuca that is not even in usable condition. The Federal Court of Accounts also pointed out serious irregularities in the operation.

ACCOUNTS REJECTED

Antonio de Oliveira Santos should have been removed from the CNC since 2004, when his accounts were rejected. That's what the regulations stipulate.

COMPLICIT OMISSION

The rejection of Antonio de Oliveira Santos' accounts by the Federal Court of Accounts was never published. This is a condition for his removal from office.
