Journalist Helena de Grammont dies

A reporter for TV Globo for over a decade, Heleninha, as she was known, participated in major news coverages, such as the one that revealed the recruitment of minors by Reverend Moon's sect.

247 - Journalist Helena de Grammont, known to her colleagues in the newsroom as Heleninha, passed away in São Paulo at the age of 74 this Thursday (27). She worked at TV Globo for over a decade as a reporter.

Originally from Botucatu, in the interior of São Paulo state, Heleninha began working as a bank teller before following in her brother's footsteps, who was an editor at TV Globo. At age 58, she was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's disease. Heleninha was married twice, to journalist Odair Redondo and sports commentator Juarez Soares, and leaves behind three children.

In São Paulo, she studied journalism and began her career at TV Globo in the 1970s. The journalist worked for all of the network's news programs and participated in major coverage on Fantástico, such as the one that revealed the recruitment of minors by Reverend Moon's sect. She also closely followed the case of the disappearance of Boy Scout Marco Aurélio in 1985, a case that remains unsolved to this day.
