Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), authorized this Tuesday (5) former deputy Daniel Silveira to leave prison temporarily to undergo physiotherapy sessions.
The measure was authorized after the former parliamentarian's defense requested the benefit from the minister. According to the lawyers, Silveira underwent knee surgery, and the prison facility is not equipped to provide rehabilitation treatment.
"From the analysis of the documentation attached to the case file, I find that Daniel Lúcio da Silveira needs to undergo post-surgical treatment outside the prison unit where he is being held," wrote Moraes.
The minister also stipulated that Silveira must inform the Supreme Court in advance of the dates of the treatment sessions, prove that the procedure was carried out within 24 hours, and return to the prison where he is being held, in Magé (RJ).
In 2023, Daniel Silveira was sentenced by the Supreme Federal Court (STF) to eight years and nine months in prison for the crimes of attempting to impede the free exercise of powers and coercion during legal proceedings by uttering insults and threats against the ministers of the STF.
In December 2024, he lost his parole after violating the precautionary measure imposed by Alexandre de Moraes, which required him to be at home after 22 pm.
