Military in Rio: propaganda cost the troops more than one and a half times as much.
Journalist Fernando Brito comments on the information that Michel Temer's government spends 158% more on advertising the military operation in Rio than on troops; R$ 1,55 million was allocated to operations and the costs of the presence of Air Force, Army and Navy agents; and R$ 4 million "on the dissemination of the action, dubbed 'Rio Wants Security and Peace'"; "It's the 'My Bullet, My Life' program in full swing," says Brito.
By Fernando Brito, from brick - On August 4th, it was written here:
“(…)it is clear that the Federal Government, a few days before the vote to remove Michel Temer, used the Force as a propaganda tool, in an operation that aimed to create a public impact that does not correspond to what one wants to do seriously.”
Two months later, UOL, in rReport by Leandro Prazeres and Paula BianchiThis confirms that the government spends 158% more on advertising military operations in Rio than on troops themselves.
R$1,55 million was allocated to operations and the costs of the presence of agents from the Air Force, Army, and Navy. ER$4 million was spent on publicizing the operation, named... Rio wants security and peace.".
Since the advertisements cost so much more than the 8,5 men employed by the Armed Forces, perhaps it would be better, poor things, if we referred to them as "propaganda" instead of "troops".
According to the government, this amount was spent on TV advertisements and "electronic outdoor media" broadcast in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, and Brasília between August 1st and 17th. In total, R$ 904 came from the Special Secretariat for Social Communication of the Presidency of the Republic, and R$ 3,1 million from funds from the Ministry of Social and Agrarian Development.
The "My Bullet, My Life" program is in full swing.
