247 - A serious accident involving a tour bus left a 12-year-old boy dead and 25 other people injured in the early hours of Thursday (6), on the Presidente Dutra highway. The accident occurred around 4 am, at km 98, in Pindamonhangaba (SP). The information was released by UOL

The bus, belonging to Viação 1001, had departed from Rio de Janeiro bound for São Paulo when it veered off the road and fell into a ravine. According to the Fire Department, the deceased victim was rescued and taken to an emergency room, but did not survive the injuries.

Another 25 people suffered injuries of varying severity and were rescued by teams from the Fire Department, SAMU (Mobile Emergency Care Service), and CCR, the concessionaire that manages the highway. The health status of the victims has not yet been reported. In addition to the injured, 19 passengers escaped unharmed and were taken to a gas station near the accident site.

In total, the vehicle was carrying 44 passengers, in addition to the driver. The causes of the accident are still being investigated by the authorities. Viação 1001 was contacted for comment, but has not yet responded. This article will be updated as soon as there is a statement from the company.
