Major, captain, and corporal of the Military Police become defendants for deaths in Operation Summer.
The murders took place in the Baixada Santista region, according to investigations.
247 - A major, a captain, and a corporal from the São Paulo state Military Police have been indicted for the deaths of two people in the Baixada Santista region, as part of Operation Summer, which took place from December 2023 to April of last year.
The complaint was filed by the Public Prosecutor's Office (MP-SP), comprised of prosecutors from the Special Task Force on Public Security and External Control of Police Activity and the Jury Court.
The court received the charges against the major on January 28th. The officer is charged with aggravated homicide committed in the city of Santos. In his defense, he claimed that the victim had a weapon, which was not confirmed by the investigations.
The captain and the corporal became defendants this Tuesday (4) after accusations of double qualified homicide in the city of São Vicente. Investigators pointed to alterations at the crime scene to simulate that the victims were armed. The MP-SP also alleged obstruction of operational cameras to prevent the recording of the occurrence.
Operation Summer is the second deadliest operation in the history of the São Paulo Police, with 56 deaths. The first place is held by the Carandiru massacre, in which 111 men were killed during the invasion of the prison on October 2, 1992.
