Lula is flying over the North Coast of São Paulo this morning, which has been devastated by the rains.

Several cities are in a state of public calamity after the worst storm in history.

247 - President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva will arrive at 10:00 AM this Monday, the 20th, in São José dos Campos/SP and, along with state ministers, will fly over the coastal region of São Paulo, which has been heavily affected by the rains in recent hours. At 10:30 AM he will meet with local leaders and authorities at the São Sebastião Municipal Theater, in the city center (Av. Dr. Altino Arantes, 2), and afterwards, he will address the press. Brazil Agency – Through social media, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva announced that he will go to São Paulo to see firsthand the damage caused by the rains on the state's North coast. "Tomorrow I will go to São Paulo to visit the region and monitor the efforts to address this tragedy," the president stated.

Lula said he spoke with the Minister of Integration and Regional Development, Waldez Góes, with the Governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio Gomes de Freitas, and with the Mayor of São Sebastião, Felipe Augusto, about the situation.

According to the Civil Defense of São Paulo, three of the four cities on the north coast of São Paulo received, in the last 24 hours, the amount of rain expected for the entire month of February. In São Sebastião, the volume in the last 24 hours was double the average expected for the month.
