A task force from the federal government is monitoring the situation regarding the storms and flooding in Rio de Janeiro and the Baixada Fluminense region.
Last Sunday (14), President Lula spoke by phone with the mayors of Rio, Eduardo Paes, and Belford Roxo, Wagner dos Santos.
Lula guaranteed emergency support and resources to the municipalities of the affected cities, in addition to assistance for the population, with the advance payment of benefits and social support.
Several ministries are monitoring the situation in the capital and in São João do Meriti, Belford Roxo, and Nova Iguaçu.
The Minister of Integration, Waldez Góes, is expected to travel to the region with a delegation this week.
Since Rio has declared a state of emergency, it is possible to guarantee assistance to the homeless, with shelter and the delivery of food.
Other measures include unifying the Bolsa Família payment schedule and advancing a portion of the Continuous Benefit Payment.
