Lula: from the pots and pans came the coup plotter Temer.

Former President Lula participated this Monday (6) in the Act in Defense of Public Companies, which took place in Rio de Janeiro; in his speech, he criticized the interim government of Michel Temer: "Temer staged a coup. The Senate only put him in as interim president. He did not have the power to do what he did against Dilma, by trying to prevent her from traveling the country"; Lula also related the June 2013 protests to the impeachment: "Why did Rede Globo suspend its soap opera schedule to broadcast the 2013 marches? In my humble, simple opinion, that day was a test for what happened now with the coup. There is no other explanation"

247 - Former President Lula participated this Monday (6) in the Act in Defense of Public Companies, which took place in Rio de Janeiro. The objective of the event was to involve Brazilians in the debate about the importance of companies for national growth and development, with income distribution.

"I want to say to each of you: don't think they are going to destroy what we have built," he stated.

He criticized Michel Temer's measures, especially the prohibition against President Dilma Rousseff using FAB (Brazilian Air Force) planes. "Temer staged a coup. The Senate only installed him as interim president. He didn't have the power to do what he did against Dilma, trying to prevent her from traveling the country," he emphasized.

"The right-wingers are ashamed. Temer, the coup plotter, came from their own pots and pans," he said ironically.

Several intellectuals, union leaders, and representatives of social movements participated this Monday afternoon in the launch of the campaign "If it's public, it's for everyone," created to discuss the importance of public resources, be they companies, education, culture, public spaces, or healthcare. The meeting was organized by the National Committee in Defense of Public Companies.

Below are some excerpts from Lula's speech:

"Why did Rede Globo suspend its telenovela programming to broadcast the 2013 protests? In my humble opinion, that day was a test for what happened now with the coup. There's no other explanation."

"Why so much fuss about Caixa Econômica Federal, which finances the 'Minha Casa, Minha Vida' (My House, My Life) program?"

"Brazil does not want to be subordinated to the interests of the elite and private enterprise."

"The discovery of the pre-salt reserves would be the passport to this country's future. That's why we created the sharing agreement."

"With payroll-deducted loans, we were able to distribute 200 million to the people. And the elite cannot tolerate that."

"Public companies are being weakened with the intention of handing them over to the elite."
