247 - President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has begun to consider the candidacy of Finance Minister Fernando Haddad for the Federal Senate in São Paulo, following changes in his political assessment of the electoral landscape in the state. Until last weekend, the president's main position was that Haddad should run for governor of São Paulo, with the aim of forcing a second round and increasing the competitiveness of the governing coalition. This information comes from CNN Brazil.

Recent polls have indicated the electoral potential of ministers Geraldo Alckmin, of Development, Industry and Commerce, and Simone Tebet, of Planning, which has led the Presidential Palace to reassess its strategies for 2026.

Within presidential circles, the prevailing view is that Haddad is showing greater resistance to running for governor of São Paulo, but would not rule out a Senate seat. This factor influenced Lula's change of position, who now considers the Finance Minister's candidacy for the legislature as a more viable alternative in the current context.

Although support for Simone Tebet has gained traction in internal discussions, Lula has not yet made a final decision on who will run for governor of São Paulo. The president maintains expectations regarding a possible candidacy of Geraldo Alckmin, despite the vice-president having already indicated that he does not intend to enter the state election race.

Alckmin, in fact, is pointed out as one of the main defenders of Simone Tebet's affiliation with the PSB, a move that could reorganize the political landscape in São Paulo. If this arrangement is confirmed, the Minister of the Environment, Marina Silva, would form a ticket with Haddad in the race for the Federal Senate.

In that same plan, the Minister of Entrepreneurship, Márcio França, emerges as a possible candidate for vice-governor or federal deputy for São Paulo, expanding the options for the governing group to compose the ticket and strengthen its allied base in the state.
