247 - The court granted provisional release to the man arrested on suspicion of harassing and verbally offending state deputy Isa Penna (PC do B-SP), this Saturday (24), during a campaign walk, in the city of Botucatu (SP). The suspect will have to comply with some court decisions, such as mandatory monthly appearances in court to report and justify his activities, and the obligation to go home at night and on days off.
If the man does not comply with the determinations, another alternative precautionary measure or preventive detention may be decreed, a report said on Monday (26) G1 portal.
According to the police report, Isa stated to officers that the suspect grabbed her waist and squeezed. In the report, registered as sexual harassment and bodily harm, the suspect whispered in the congresswoman's ear: "you're a slut, the harassment with Fernando Cury didn't happen."
The harassment case involving state representative Fernando Cury (União Brasil-SP) occurred in December 2020. According to images from a camera at the Legislative Assembly of São Paulo (Alesp), the parliamentarian touched Isa Penna's breast during a hug from behind, while the state budget for that year was being voted on.
At the time, the congresswoman filed a police report against the congressman for sexual harassment.
Last November, the Cidadania party expelled Fernando Cury. On April 1st, the São Paulo State Legislative Assembly (Alesp) unanimously approved a resolution suspending his mandate for 180 days, and as a consequence, his substitute, Padre Afonso (PV), took over the position.
Fernando Cury's defense stated that he "did not intend to disrespect or harass his PSOL colleague" in what they called a "light and quick hug."
The congresswoman denounced the parliamentarian to the Ethics Committee of the Legislative Assembly of São Paulo (Alesp) and advocated for the revocation of his mandate.
