Lawyer Ives Gandra Martins is hospitalized with coronavirus.

Lawyer Ives Gandra Martins has contracted the coronavirus. The jurist had been hospitalized since February, recovering from esophageal surgery. Gandra is 85 years old.

247 - Lawyer Ives Gandra Martins, 85, has contracted the coronavirus. He is hospitalized at the Sírio Libanês hospital. Gandra underwent esophageal surgery in February to treat reflux. 

A report from the Folha de S. Paulo newspaper. It reports that "after the operation, Gandra Martins suffered an ischemic stroke followed by septicemia. He was in a coma for five days in the ICU. He improved and was extubated. Back in his room, he was doing physiotherapy and regaining movement. "I started walking again, little by little, with some difficulty," he says. "Then I caught the coronavirus."

The article also highlights that "the lawyer says the symptoms appeared on Thursday, when he had a fever. He took the test, which confirmed the suspicion that he had Covid-19."
