Jandira dismantles the hypocrisy of the discourse against public funding.
Congresswoman Jandira Feghali (PCdoB-RJ) delivered a forceful speech in the Chamber of Deputies in favor of public financing of campaigns, and reminded the audience that only in this way is it possible to democratize access to Congress for people who do not have their own resources; otherwise, "only businesspeople and the wealthy will get here," she noted; she also refuted the rumor that campaign funding comes from health and education; "That's not true."
Rio 247 - Federal Deputy Jandira Feghali (PCdoB-RJ) delivered a forceful speech in the Chamber of Deputies this Wednesday, the 4th, in defense of public campaign financing. In her speech, she dismantled the hypocritical argument that suggests resources will be diverted from health and education to finance politicians.
Jandira recalled that the public electoral fund is a long-standing banner of the left and stressed that only in this way is it possible to democratize access to Congress for people who do not have their own resources.
"For us to have a more representative parliament, we have to provide the tools for diversity to be included. Or how can I expect a popular candidate, a factory worker, a Black person from the favela, a woman from the community movement to get here? Through what resources?", he questioned.
"If we start discussing campaign financing without public funds, the wealthy, the businesspeople, those with firepower or who have support from other sources that may not be declared, will arrive here," the congresswoman continued.
She also denied the rumor that campaign funding comes from healthcare and education. "That's not true," she countered. Watch:
