The Adolfo Lutz Institute in São Paulo has a backlog of 14 coronavirus tests awaiting processing.
Local demand is three times greater than processing capacity.
Forum Magazine - The problem of underreporting of Covid-19 cases has been highlighted since the beginning of the increase in recorded numbers. In addition to the low number of tests, the difficulty in processing them also hinders registration. At the Adolfo Lutz Institute (IAL) in São Paulo, there are already 14 tests in the queue.
According to the State Health Department (SES), the IAL receives approximately 1.200 tests per day, but only has the capacity to process 400. Therefore, the backlog of tests performed but waiting to be processed is growing, as is the waiting time to receive the results. In São Paulo, this period can reach 14 days.
