Man will have to compensate ex-fiancée for the end of their relationship.
After ending the relationship with his fiancée through her parents' intervention, the fiancée felt disrespected and stated that she suffered such distress that she needed psychotherapeutic treatment.
A young man will have to compensate his ex-fiancée with R$ 11.553,03 for material and moral damages due to the breaking of their engagement. The decision comes from the 6th Civil Chamber of the Court of Justice of Rio de Janeiro (TJ-RJ), and confirms the conviction determined in the first instance.
According to the ex-fiancée, the young man ended the engagement through her parents, to whom he revealed details of the relationship, disrespecting her privacy and ignoring the expenses incurred for the wedding ceremony and the couple's home. The ex-fiancée claimed that she suffered such distress that she needed psychotherapeutic treatment.
According to the judge responsible for the decision, "one cannot deny the suffering and anguish generated by the breaking of an affective bond, especially when the formation of a new family is considered certain, after all the preparations for the wedding ceremony have been made."
