Genial/Quaest: Zema reaches 47% but Kalil's lead narrows in Minas Gerais
Former mayor of Belo Horizonte rises four points and now has 28% of voting intentions.
247 - A Genial/Quaest survey released this Friday (9) shows that Governor Romeu Zema (Novo) continues to have an advantage in the electoral race in Minas Gerais. The candidate for re-election has 47% of voting intentions, fluctuating one point upwards compared to the 46% he had in August. However, his main opponent, former mayor Alexandre Kalil, has reduced the gap.
Zema is now 19 points ahead of Alexandre Kalil (PSD), who was chosen by 28% of Minas Gerais voters in the first round. The candidate supported by Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) in the state, the former mayor of Belo Horizonte had 24% of the voting intentions last month.
Senator Carlos Viana (PL) dropped four points in one month and is now cited by 2% of voters in Minas Gerais. Viana has the support of President Jair Bolsonaro, also affiliated with the PL and running for reelection.
In a potential second round between Zema and Kalil, Quaest predicts a victory for the current governor by 59% to 28%.
Quaest conducted in-person interviews with 2 voters between September 3rd and 6th. The survey is registered with the Electoral Court under number MG-09401/2022. The margin of error for the survey is estimated at two percentage points, within a 95% confidence interval.
