247 - A funeral home in Belo Horizonte said it received dozens of bodies between last Thursday (19) and Sunday (22) of people whose cause of death was symptoms similar to those of Covid-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus infection, reports the Radio Itatiaia, from Minas Gerais.
The symptoms indicated "acute respiratory failure, chronic or aspiration pneumonia." The victims are between 49 and 90 years old. This information was confirmed to Itatiaia news outlet by the establishment's manager.
Police authorities have opened an investigation into a police report filed by the Civil Police of Minas Gerais indicating that the funeral home received a total of 73 corpses between Friday and Sunday, according to... information from Correio Braziliense.
In a statement, the Minas Gerais State Health Department (SES-MG) reported that the situation is being evaluated and monitored by the competent authorities. "It is worth noting that, to date, there are no confirmed cases of death from Covid-19 in the state of Minas Gerais. As soon as the information is properly investigated, we will provide the necessary clarifications," it stated.
