After learning of the arrest of his former aide Fabrício Queiroz, Senator Flávio Bolsonaro stated that "another piece has been moved on the board to attack Bolsonaro." 247 Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (Republicanos-RJ) stated on Twitter that there is a kind of setup by the Rio de Janeiro Judiciary to attack him, mainly because of Jair Bolsonaro's election. Fabrício Queiroz was arrested on the morning of this Thursday (18) during an operation investigating a corruption scheme in the Legislative Assembly of Rio. Jair Bolsonaro's son was a state deputy.

"I am taking today's events calmly. The truth will prevail! Another piece has been moved on the board to attack Bolsonaro. In 16 years as a congressman in Rio, there was never a single word against me. It only took President Bolsonaro's election for everything to change! The game is brutal!", the congressman wrote on Twitter.

SAO PAULO (Reuters) - Fabrício Queiroz, former aide to Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (Republicanos-RJ), son of President Jair Bolsonaro, was arrested this Thursday morning in Atibaia, in the interior of São Paulo, by the Civil Police and the State Public Prosecutor's Office, in compliance with a warrant issued by the Rio de Janeiro court, the São Paulo Public Prosecutor's Office reported.

The warrant issued by the Rio de Janeiro court refers to investigations into the scheme known as "rachadinha" (a form of embezzlement) in the Rio de Janeiro Legislative Assembly. Queiroz was an advisor to Flávio Bolsonaro when the current senator was a state deputy in Rio. The suspicion is of misappropriation and embezzlement of part of the salaries of the parliamentarian's office staff.

"This Thursday morning, the Special Task Force to Combat Organized Crime (Gaeco) and the Civil Police arrested Fabrício Queiroz, former aide to Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, in the city of Atibaia," the São Paulo Public Prosecutor's Office said in a statement.

“The arrest and search warrants were issued by the Rio de Janeiro courts at the request of the Anti-Corruption Task Force (Gaecc) of the Public Prosecutor's Office of that state, which is investigating Queiroz's participation in a scheme to embezzle salaries from employees of the office of then-state deputy Flávio Bolsonaro. The transfer to Rio will take place later today.”

The arrest was made at the office of a lawyer who provides services to Queiroz, the Public Prosecutor's Office reported. The former aide is being taken to the headquarters of the Homicide and Personal Protection Department (DHPP) of the Civil Police in the capital of São Paulo, said a source with knowledge of the matter.
