Rio 247 - Military personnel from the Pacification Force of the Complexo do Alemão are authorized to search houses and search residents in Vila Cruzeiro and Rua Joaquim de Queiroz, in the Favela da Grota, this Thursday (27). The request from the Pacification Force, commanded by the Army, occurred after the discovery that traffickers started selling narcotics on the rooftops of the shacks.

The court order was issued by Judge Renata Palheiro Mendes de Almeida, of the Duty Court, who had already granted a collective search warrant for the Pedra do Sapo favela, where the Army seized two rifles and drugs. Approximately 150 men from the military police, civil police, and army are participating in the operation and will search houses in 29 locations within the community for weapons and drugs until Sunday.

According to Major Bouças, spokesperson for the Pacification Force, the entire operation is filmed and photographed. The goal is to protect the military personnel in case of potential complaints from residents. The Public Defender's Office is expected in the community to guarantee the rights of the residents of the region.
