In his first campaign event with Tebet, Lula gathers a crowd in Teófilo Otoni and takes a jab at Zema.

The former president recalls that the governor of Minas Gerais "pretended not to have a candidate" in the first round, but that now "the mask has fallen" and he has shown himself to be a Bolsonaro supporter.

247 - Former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva gathered a crowd in the early afternoon of this Friday (21) in a walk in the city of Teófilo Otoni. The municipality in the Vale do Mucuri, in Minas Gerais, is being contested by both campaigns in the final stretch of the election.

This was the first rally in which Lula participated alongside Senator Simone Tebet (MDB), who came in third in the presidential race.

From atop the car, Simone delivered a humorous speech, encouraging supporters to vote for number 13 on October 30th, the date of the second round of voting, and urged voters to "send Jair away."

In his speech, Lula recalled that he has been frequenting the region since 1970: "In 1980 I came to this land to found the PT (Workers' Party)."

And he took a jab at Governor Romeu Zema (Novo): “During the first round of the campaign, the governor pretended he didn’t have a presidential candidate. Now that he’s won the election, the mask has fallen. He’s a Bolsonaro supporter and now he’s admitting it.”

The current vice-governor, Paulo Brant (PSDB) – therefore, Zema's vice-governor – also went up on Lula's platform and gave a speech.

“He will come here this week with Bolsonaro and needs you to tell him that you already have a candidate,” Lula continued, referring to Bolsonaro’s event that is expected to take place next Wednesday (26) in the city.

"You don't need to insult anyone or use profanity. Just say that you have political awareness and that your number is 13," the former president stated.

The city is currently governed by the PT (Daniel Batista Sucupira), but in the race for the Federal Senate, he gave an advantage to state deputy Cleitinho Azevedo, from the PSC, who supports Bolsonaro.
