Amid the rush to stockpile, the price of cooking gas cylinders skyrockets in São Paulo.
Stress and a lack of information propagated by the federal government itself are leading Brazilians to disorientation in the face of the health crisis. Residents of São Paulo have begun stockpiling gas cylinders, causing the price of the product to skyrocket.
247 - Residents of São Paulo under quarantine have started yet another irrational process of stockpiling products: they have begun stockpiling two to three gas cylinders, fearing they will run out of the product.
The report from the Uol portal It highlights that "in addition to the stock, there has been an increase in demand for gas cylinders, because people are staying home more and thus consuming more gas, according to the ANP (National Petroleum Agency). These two factors have resulted in an increase in the price of gas cylinders in several neighborhoods of the city of São Paulo."
The article further adds that "this price increase comes days after Petrobras announced a 5% reduction in the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) at its refineries, both for residential and commercial/industrial use."
