Rio 247 - Former First Lady of Rio de Janeiro, Rosinha Garotinho, wife of former governor Anthony Garotinho, arrested this Wednesday by the Federal Police, sent an open letter to the president of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), Minister Cármen Lúcia, attacking the former president of the Courts of Justice and Electoral Courts, Judge Luiz Zveiter, whom she accuses of political persecution. "He [Zveiter] has been trying since last year to blackmail my husband through third parties, or as he did in the hearing last Tuesday, in the 43rd court of the Rio de Janeiro Forum. My husband denounced him for corruption and other crimes, and he knows that if he is investigated along with the Delta construction company, he will lose the control he currently has over the frightened justice system of Rio," said Rosinha.
"Don't let this giant, law-breaking abuser massacre us as he has been doing for years, using his intimidation within the justice system itself," pleads the former first lady of Rio de Janeiro. "My husband didn't steal or embezzle public money, he didn't commit any crime, he only denounced the biggest corrupt figures in the state who were arrested but continue to give orders from inside prison, including orders to kill him," Rosinha states in another part of the letter.
Finally, she emphasizes that she remains "confident in the woman with the calm voice and firm hand; "I ask for your help to rid the Rio de Janeiro State Court of the one who, through his example of impunity, is corrupting the magistrates of our state through fear. This is not an inspiring example; on the contrary, it encourages the idea that crime pays. Justice cannot turn a blind eye to those who want to use it for nefarious purposes and persecution," she concludes.

*OPEN LETTER TO MINISTER CARMEM LÚCIA.*
I watched her inauguration, and I felt proud as a Brazilian and as a woman.
My husband, a man who was difficult to praise, always spoke of his integrity and courage.
Please
This is a woman speaking who can no longer bear to see her family humiliated and persecuted at the behest of Mr. Luís Zveiter.
He has been trying to blackmail my husband through third parties since last year, or as he did at the hearing last Tuesday in the 43rd court of the Rio de Janeiro Forum.
My husband denounced him for corruption and other crimes, and he knows that if he is investigated along with the Delta construction company, he will lose the control he currently has over the intimidated justice system in Rio.
I see in your eyes the courage of a strong woman, but the powerful man who escaped the Cyrela scandal, the rigged contests, the immoral agreements to achieve his goals—one of which you prevented, his election for the third time to the Rio de Janeiro Court of Justice—a man who went so far as to interfere in a notary public contest to favor people who didn't even know how to write "but were friends of King Zveiter," doesn't consider himself above the law, but the law itself.
As a wife and mother, I've asked my husband to stop doing investigative journalism and politics, but he always says he prefers to confront giants than to humiliate dwarfs.
Do not allow this giant, transgressor of justice, to massacre us as he has been doing for years, using his intimidation within the justice system itself. Last year he acted to defraud the popular will in our city, using a corrupt prosecutor, who is under criminal investigation in the state's Public Prosecutor's Office, a torturing police chief, and a judge who does what ZVEITER dictates.
Madam President
My husband didn't steal or embezzle public funds, he didn't commit any crime; he simply denounced the biggest corrupt figures in the state who were arrested but continue to give orders from inside prison, including orders to kill him.
Our life is simple, our strength comes from a courage that I honestly don't know where Garotinho gets it from, where he finds so much strength.
I ask you...
Help me continue to believe in justice, help us save the state of Rio from the hands of criminals who, even behind bars, manage to find allies in order to silence, imprison, humiliate, and if necessary, even kill, as they did with Judge Patrícia Acioli.
Perhaps he won't even notice my letter; I wrote because my strength is waning.
If it weren't for the Public Prosecutor's Office and the Federal Justice system, the State of Rio would still be in the hands of the wrongdoers led by Sérgio Cabral.
Zveiter is his right-hand man in the state judiciary.
I ask God to inspire her in her great daily challenges, which I follow even from afar.
Confident in the woman of calm speech and firm hand, I ask for her help to rid the Rio de Janeiro State Court of the one who, through his example of impunity, is corrupting the magistrates of our state through fear.
This is not an inspiring example; on the contrary, it reinforces the idea that crime pays.
The justice system cannot turn a blind eye to those who seek to use it for nefarious purposes and persecution.
Affectionately
Rosinha Garotinho
