Eike reveals bribe to Crivella in Lava Jato.

In his plea bargain proposal with the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office, former billionaire Eike Batista said he gave R$ 1 million to the current mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Marcelo Crivella (PRB), so that he would not run for mayor in the 2012 elections; according to columnist Gabriel Mascarenhas of Radar Online, the request was allegedly made by former governor Sérgio Cabral (PMDB) to facilitate the re-election of Eduardo Paes (PMDB); the bishop did not run, and Paes defeated Marcelo Freixo in the second round.

Since April of this year, Eike Batista, who was arrested at the end of January in Operation Efficiency, an offshoot of Lava Jato, has been under house arrest at his home in Jardim Botânico, in the southern part of Rio de Janeiro. The businessman is a defendant in the Federal Court of Rio for active corruption, money laundering, and criminal organization.
