A standout in the Brazilian Championship, Neymar is in contention for FIFA's Ballon d'Or.

Neymar, from Santos, is the only representative of a Latin American team that will compete for the best player in the world award in the 2011 season. The striker is also the first athlete to have played the entire season in a Brazilian team. The magazine "France Football" and FIFA released, this Tuesday (1), the list with the 23 players who will compete for the "Ballon d'Or" award. The Brazilian Daniel Alves, FC Barcelona, ​​is the other Brazilian in the award.

The awards ceremony will be on December 5th, but the trophy presentation will take place on January 9th at the Congress Palace in Zurich, Switzerland. Spain dominates the list of nominations with 13, eight from Barcelona and five from Real Madrid.

Besides Ronaldo, four other Brazilians have won the award: Ronaldinho Gaúcho (2004/05), Romário (1994), Rivaldo (1999) and Kaká (2007).
