A judge in Rio de Janeiro has suspended the investigation against Flávio Bolsonaro.

In a preliminary ruling, the Rio de Janeiro Court of Justice suspended the investigations against Senator Flávio Bolsonaro and the alleged embezzlement scheme. As a result, the Rio de Janeiro Public Prosecutor's Office cannot conclude the investigations or file charges against him until the full court reviews the case.

247 - By decision of Judge Suimei Meira Cavalieri, of the 3rd Criminal Chamber of the Rio de Janeiro Court of Justice (TJ-RJ), the investigations into the "rachadinha" scheme in the office of then-state deputy and current senator Flávio Bolsonaro (RJ) are suspended until the panel rules on the matter. This information comes from the newspaper O Globo.

The judge granted the request from Flávio Bolsonaro's defense, which argued that it was illegal for the investigation to proceed in the first instance, since, according to the lawyers, Jair Bolsonaro's son should have been investigated by the second instance of the state Public Prosecutor's Office, under the supervision of a judge from the Court of Justice.

Therefore, the Rio de Janeiro Public Prosecutor's Office will not be able to conclude the investigations against Flavio Bolsonaro nor file charges against him.
