Datafolha: Garotinho leads in Rio, with 21%

A Datafolha poll indicates that Congressman and political rival of Governor Sérgio Cabral (PMDB) is the favorite in 2014; Marcelo Crivella (PRB) and Lindbergh Farias (PT) are tied for second place with 15%; Vice-Governor Luiz Fernando Pezão (PMDB) appears in fifth position with 5% of voting intentions; without Crivella, Garotinho reaches 24%; the Datafolha result puts Ibope, run by Carlos Augusto Montenegro, in a bad position, as it distorted results in a recent poll.

Rio 247 – A Datafolha poll released this weekend also confirms the lead of Congressman Anthony Garotinho (PR-RJ) in the race for governor of Rio in 2014.

In a scenario featuring the main pre-candidates, the political opponent of Governor Sérgio Cabral (PMDB) appears in the lead, with 21% of voting intentions.

In second place, tied with 15%, are the Minister of Fisheries, Marcelo Crivella (PRB), and Senator Lindbergh Farias (PT). City councilman Cesar Maia (DEM), former mayor of Rio, has 11%.

Vice-Governor Luiz Fernando Pezão (PMDB) appears in fifth position, with 5% of voting intentions.

Representative Miro Teixeira (Pros) has 3%. Volleyball coach Bernardinho (PSDB) and former representative Milton Temer (PSOL) each have 2%.

Garotinho performs best among the poorest.

In a second scenario surveyed by Datafolha, without Crivella, Garotinho rises to 24%, and the second-place candidate becomes Lindbergh Farias, with 19%.

The results released this Monday by Datafolha leave Ibope, owned by Carlos Augusto Montenegro, in a very bad position. Montenegro's son has contracts with the Rio de Janeiro government. Ibope indicated Crivella's lead and scored only 13 points for Garotinho – eight to eleven points less than Datafolha indicated.
