Correia warns: 'Ramagem is trying to distance himself from Bolsonaro's barbarities, including espionage'
The congressman also cited the coup-like acts, which, in the Supreme Federal Court (STF), are part of a broader investigation into the institutionalized coup attempt. Video
247 - Federal deputy Rogério Correia (PT-MG) criticized this Tuesday (2) the stance of the former director of the Brazilian Intelligence Agency (Abin) Alexandre Ramagem, because, according to the parliamentarian, the federal deputy from PL-RJ is trying to disassociate himself from the coup attempts and the plan orchestrated by allies of Jair Bolsonaro (PL) with the objective of preventing the inauguration of the current president Lula (PT).
In the Supreme Federal Court, the coup attempts of January 8, 2023, are part of a broader investigation into the coup plot, in which Ramagem, Bolsonaro, and 29 other defendants will be tried by the STF.
"I'm continuing with the trial. Ramagem's defense has repeatedly criticized the anti-democratic acts and tried to separate his client from Bolsonaro's barbarities, including espionage. In other words, let Bolsonaro go to hell alone," the congressman wrote on social media.
According to investigations, Ramagem used the agency's structure for a scheme known as 'Parallel Abin', which involved the illegal monitoring of at least 22 people, some of whom were considered opponents of Bolsonaro's policies.
The former director of ABIN (Brazilian Intelligence Agency) is accused of three crimes in the investigation into the coup plot: attempted coup (minimum sentence of 4 years and maximum of 12 years); attempted violent abolition of the Democratic Rule of Law (4 to 8 years); and participation in an armed criminal organization (sentence of 3 to 8 years, which can reach 17 years in cases of aggravating circumstances such as the use of firearms and the participation of public agents).
