Coronavirus: Crivella considers fining people and revoking the licenses of establishments that promote gatherings.

“We will punish not only the establishment, but also the offender, following the same rules as the Zero Waste program,” says Marcelo Crivella, who also warned of the possibility of revoking the licenses of repeat offenders.

247 - The city hall of Rio de Janeiro is considering fining people who fail to comply with the social distancing rules established to combat the spread of the new coronavirus. Marcelo Crivella has toughened his tone with business owners and merchants, and stated that establishments will be fined. The information from Monday (13) is from the newspaper The Globe.

“We will punish not only the establishment, but also the offender, under the same rules as the Zero Waste program. Because the owner of the establishment says that he sold the product on the condition that the person would leave, and they (the customers) buy the drink or the snack and end up gathering on the corner, chatting, etc. These things are being looked into by the city hall and we will deal with them very rigorously,” declared Crivella.

The Rio de Janeiro city government has reinforced its concern about the neighborhoods of Santa Cruz, Campo Grande, Bangu, Santíssimo, and Jacarepaguá, all in the West Zone, as well as São Cristóvão, in the North Zone, and highlighted that in case of repeated offenses, establishments may have their operating licenses revoked.
