Tom Jobim International Airport, Galeão, in Rio de Janeiro, had its concession contract adjusted. The term was signed on Thursday (25) by the Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho.

The agreement, approved by the Federal Court of Accounts, redefines key aspects of the concession, such as the assisted sale of the concessionaire through a simplified competitive process, which will have a minimum bid of R$ 932 million.

This modality allows the current concessionaire to transfer its operation to a new company, with the support and regulation of ANAC (National Civil Aviation Agency) and the federal government.

Minister Silvio Costa Filho spoke about the importance of the moment.

"Today we are celebrating not merely an agreement, but we are celebrating the resumption of a strategic plan to strengthen this great asset of South American aviation. Because Galeão will become a major international aviation hub in South America."

Silvio Costa Filho also highlighted the growth in passenger numbers at the airport.

"In just under two years, we went from 4,8 million passengers in 2023, and this year we will exceed 18 million passengers."

The signed agreement also provides for the collection of a variable contribution of 20% of the concessionaire's gross revenue until 2039, in addition to the creation of financial compensation in case there are restrictions on passenger traffic at Santos Dumont Airport.

The document also establishes Infraero's exit from the administration of Galeão Airport, scheduled to occur by March 2026.
