By Guilherme Amado, in Metrópoles - The Navy commander, Admiral Almir Garnier, used a Brazilian Air Force (FAB) plane to spend Christmas in Rio de Janeiro, the city where he was born. The commander did not report having fulfilled any official commitments during that period, which violates the rules for the use of FAB planes by authorities.

Garnier and five other people, whose names are being kept secret, left Brasília at 13:10 PM on Friday, December 24th, Christmas Eve, on a Brazilian Air Force (FAB) plane. Four days later, a FAB flight with the commander and five other companions departed from Rio de Janeiro at 16:10 PM on Tuesday, December 28th.

The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) claims the trip was for official business, a claim not corroborated by the Navy. The decree regulating the use of these aircraft, maintained with public funds and signed by Jair Bolsonaro in early 2020, stipulates that official trips must be recorded in the official agenda. This did not happen.

Garnier's official agenda shows no official commitments during the period the military officer was in Rio de Janeiro. According to public documents, the only work activity the admiral carried out in the capital was "internal dispatches" on December 28th, the morning before the flight. In other words, the commander could only have flown on the 28th, and not four days earlier, just before Christmas.

On other occasions, outside of the end-of-year holidays, Garnier complied with the decree. On December 15th, a Wednesday, for example, the admiral went to Rio de Janeiro in the morning. His schedule shows that he participated in two official ceremonies in the city starting at 10 am.

The column questioned the Navy three times since the 27th, but received no response. The Force refused to answer the reason for the commander's trip and who the other members of the delegation were.
