Plastic surgeon Ivo Pitanguy passed away this Saturday (6), in Rio de Janeiro, at the age of 90; Pitanguy was a member of the Brazilian Academy of Letters, with more than 900 books published in Brazil and abroad, and of the National Academy of Medicine; he was also responsible for the creation and implementation of the burns and reconstructive plastic surgery service at Santa Casa de Misericórdia
247 - Plastic surgeon Ivo Pitanguy passed away this Saturday (6), in Rio de Janeiro, at the age of 90. The doctor, considered one of the greatest professionals in the world in his field, will be laid to rest this Sunday afternoon (7), at Memorial do Carmo. The body will be cremated, as the doctor wished.
Ivo Pitanguy was a member of the Brazilian Academy of Letters, having published over 900 books in Brazil and abroad, and also of the National Academy of Medicine. He was also responsible for the creation and implementation of the burns and reconstructive plastic surgery service at the Santa Casa de Misericórdia (Holy House of Mercy).
