Heavy rain leaves municipalities without electricity.

Niterói and São Gonçalo, in the metropolitan region, and Duque de Caxias, in Baixada Fluminense, were without power supply on Wednesday afternoon (28); technicians are working to restore the service, according to Ampla, the concessionaire of the system in the affected locations.

Rio_247 - The rain and strong winds that hit Rio de Janeiro this Wednesday (28) caused power outages in Niterói and São Gonçalo, in the Metropolitan Region, and in Duque de Caxias, in Baixada Fluminense, according to the concessionaire Ampla, the energy distributor in these regions. According to the concessionaire, the power outage has affected some customers in these locations since the early afternoon. Technicians from Ampla, the concessionaire in the Rio metropolitan region, are working to restore the supply. 

Heavy rain also hit the North and West Zones of Rio. Bad weather temporarily closes Santos Dumont Airport. A tree fell and blocked a section of Rua Conde de Bonfim, in Tijuca, in the North Zone. In Niterói, according to Ampla, the most affected areas were the city center and the neighborhoods of Itaipu, Pendotiba, Santa Bárbara and São Lourenço, as well as parts of Santa Rosa and Icaraí.

In São Gonçalo, the affected areas were São Miguel, Colubandê, Zé Garoto, Guaxindiba, Alcântara, and Galo Branco. In Duque de Caxias, there are reports of power outages in Campos Elíseos, Santa Cruz da Serra, and Parada Angélica.
