Chico Alencar says Maia is delaying Cunha's trial.
In a note on Moreno's blog, Congressman Chico Alencar, from the PSOL party, questions the date set by the Speaker of the House, Rodrigo Maia, to judge the impeachment process of his predecessor, Eduardo Cunha; the vote is scheduled for September 12th, a Monday, 19 days before the municipal elections; "The trial of Cunha on September 12th is an invitation to the newspaper, which his allies are already preparing. The 12th is a Monday, when even governments with an interest in the matters cannot get a quorum," says Chico.
Rio 247 - In a note on Moreno's blog, Congressman Chico Alencar, from the PSOL party in Rio, questions the date set by the Speaker of the House, Rodrigo Maia (DEM-RJ), to judge the impeachment process of his predecessor, Eduardo Cunha (PMDB-RJ). The vote is scheduled for September 12th, which will be a Monday and 19 days before the municipal elections.
Down with Chico's protest.
"Cunha's trial on September 12th is an invitation to the tabloid press, which his allies are already preparing. The 12th is a Monday, when even governments with vested interests in certain matters cannot gather a quorum."
We are 19 days away from the elections. An empty plenary will be the signal for Rodrigo Maia to dismiss us until... after the elections!
The 12th is a day to protect the 'fugitives', no matter how much we demand their presence. This schedule is part of the "procrastinate operation, so Cunha will be silenced".
Why not next week, or, say, the 23rd or 24th, given that Dilma's impeachment in the Senate will only be considered in its final stages between the 25th and the 28th or 29th?
Rodrigo Maia made the decision without the support of a collegial and transparent process he had promised. Cunha continues to operate and remains influential.
The Temer government has reason to fear; Cunha opening his mouth will be a wedge in his discourse.
