247 - The job patronage scandal at the State University of Rio de Janeiro (Uerj) has gained another chapter. report A report by UOL reveals that a couple consisting of a manicurist and a retired military officer, both without any academic background, received R$ 738 from UERJ between 2021 and 2022 for research.

"For Marilândia de Souza Lima, 64, there were 29 payments with public money, totaling R$ 378, to work on two research projects; her husband, Joaquim Andrade dos Santos, 85, earned R$ 360," says an excerpt from the report.

According to the report, Marilândia works every Thursday and Friday at a salon in Copacabana, in the southern part of Rio. The soldier, on the other hand, needs the assistance of a caregiver to carry out his daily activities since he was hit by a car in August of this year.

In a statement, Uerj (Rio de Janeiro State University) affirms that Marilândia has completed technical training in business management and that Santos was a superintendent manager at the CML (Eastern Military Command). "Both carried out in-person and remote activities" related to the projects, the statement says.

This, therefore, is yet another case of patronage jobs at UERJ (Rio de Janeiro State University). Groups of relatives have earned up to R$ 1 million together in a single year, according to an investigation conducted by UOL Notícias over two months.
