Carlos Minc: Crivella consolidates Theocracy in Rio
Former Environment Minister Carlos Minc points out that the mayor of Rio de Janeiro, who is an evangelical Christian, "allows religious services in the City Council, prohibits art exhibitions, and restricts demonstrations by LGBT people and Afro-Brazilian religions."
Rio 247 – Former Environment Minister in Lula's government, Carlos Minc, criticizes the mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Marcelo Crivella, who is an evangelical Christian, this Tuesday, the 10th.
According to him, "Crivella consolidates theocracy in Rio. He allows religious services in the Chamber, prohibits art exhibitions, and restricts LGBT and Afro-Brazilian religious demonstrations."
In another social media post this morning, the former minister commented on the censorship of art exhibitions. Crivella posted a video last week banning the Queermuseu exhibition, which had already been censored in Porto Alegre.
"Obscurantism uses moralism to attack freedoms and cultivate authoritarianism. If they went to the Sistine Chapel or the Louvre, they would ask Crivella to close them down," Minc quipped.
