Campaign educates tourists about Zika during the Olympics.

247 An international campaign involving various entities will work to demystify the dangers of diseases transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito and to clarify information about the Zika virus during the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

The initiative comes from the Business Council for Tourism and Hospitality (Cetur), the National Confederation of Commerce of Goods, Services and Tourism (CNC), and Sesc Nacional, which have partnered with the Ministry of Health and Embratur to engage all entities linked to tourism activity in this objective.

Developed by Embratur, the campaign consists of five pieces – Available in Portuguese, English, and Spanish. – educational and with data and statistics. The banners show why foreign tourists don't need to worry, since the transmission of diseases by Aedes aegypti is very low during the winter.

The campaign also highlights measures being taken by health authorities, such as inspections and test events, to prevent outbreaks during this period.

"Since the beginning of the year, we have been mobilizing institutions in the sector for integrated actions to combat Aedes aegypti. It is crucial that now, just days before the start of the Olympics, we all stand together in this cause. Rio 2016 will be a unique opportunity to boost Brazil's image abroad, transforming the country into one of the most attractive destinations in the world," says the president of Cetur, Alexandre Sampaio.
