BRICS: Federal Police intensifies security with sweeps in Rio.
This action is part of a series of measures to ensure the security of the BRICS Leaders' Summit.
247 - The Federal Police carried out a sweep of Marina da Glória, in Rio de Janeiro, this Tuesday (1). The action is part of a set of measures to guarantee the security of the BRICS Leaders Summit, an event that will take place on July 06 and 07.
The operation was carried out jointly with the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro (CORE) and the Military Police of Alagoas, the Federal District, Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais, and Rio Grande do Sul.
The main objective of the operation was to identify and neutralize potential threats to the participants. The sweep involved police officers specialized in explosives operations, as well as the use of threat detection equipment and the support of sniffer dogs.
Other security measures will be carried out in the coming days to ensure the safety of the heads of state and other members of the summit.
