Brazil crushes Mexico and advances to the women's handball final.

With three easy wins in the first phase, the Brazilians won 43-12 and will compete for the title on Sunday night (23)

The Brazilian women's handball team lived up to expectations and crushed Mexico in the semifinals of the Guadalajara Pan American Games, winning 43-12 on Friday at the San Rafael Gymnasium. Brazil will now compete for the title on Sunday night, seeking their fourth Pan American Games championship and a spot in the London Olympics.

Having won the gold medal in Winnipeg/99, Santo Domingo/2003 and Rio/2007, Brazil arrived in Guadalajara as the overwhelming favorite for the gold. And, under the command of Danish coach Morten Soubak, they have been proving their strength in the competition, with three easy victories in the first phase and a crushing defeat of Mexico in Friday's semifinal.

Against Mexico, Brazil completely dominated the match. The standout players in the victory were Dani and Fernanda, both scoring six goals. Now, the Brazilian team awaits the outcome of the semifinal between Argentina and the Dominican Republic to determine their opponent in Sunday's final, which will be decided this Friday.

In addition to maintaining its dominance in the Pan American Games, the title in Guadalajara has special importance for the Brazilian team, as only the Pan American champion secures a direct spot in the London Olympics in 2012.
