"It's an honor that Bolsonaro isn't wearing our jersey," says Emerson Osasco, from Gaviões da Fiel.

"For us, him not wearing our shirt is an honor. And he won't feel good about it, because it's the shirt of a club formed by working-class people. The vast majority of the fans are Black and from the periphery; this isn't part of his world," said Emerson Osasco.

247 - Emerson Marcio Vitalino, also known as Emerson Osasco, director of Gaviões da Fiel and member of the Corinthians Democracy movement, which has become a symbol of the anti-fascist struggle, stated that the fact that Jair Bolsonaro wore several Brazilian club jerseys, but not Corinthians', was a cause for celebration.

"For us, him not wearing our shirt is an honor. And he won't feel good about it, because it's the shirt of a club formed by working-class people. The vast majority of the fans are black and from the periphery, that's not part of his world. On the contrary, he has a repulsion for those people," Emerson stated in an interview with columnist Chico Alves, from UOL.

In one of the first fan demonstrations on Paulista Avenue in June, Emerson became known for giving an anti-racist speech amidst a right-wing group supporting Bolsonaro.

For him, it's not the jersey that bothers Bolsonaro, but the history of the club, which fights for the less fortunate and rejected the fact that the anti-fascist fan movement was called terrorist by Bolsonaro.

"Terrorism is what he does in government. With more than 70 people dead from Covid-19, having the audacity to post a photo watching a game and laughing is the act of a totally unbalanced person," he states.
