Despite his relaxed demeanor, Bolsonaro has a long history of confrontation with gays, lesbians, and women in Congress. A key ally of Congressman Pastor Marco Feliciano (PSC-SP) during his controversial tenure as head of the Human Rights and Minorities Commission, he defended the so-called "gay cure" project and accused the Ministry of Education of promoting homosexuality with a campaign he dubbed the "gay kit."
