247 - Marlúcia Ramiro, a 63-year-old woman from São Paulo, was already known for her direct participation in the coup attempts of January 8, 2023. Now, she faces a new and serious investigation: the suspicion of physical, psychological, and sexual abuse against two girls, aged 8 and 2, in Buritizal, in the interior of São Paulo. The crimes allegedly occurred in 2023, a period when Marlúcia was a fugitive, according to a report originally published by the newspaper. OGlobe.

Marlúcia was arrested in December 2023 and, since April of this year, has been under house arrest by decision of the Supreme Federal Court (STF). The abuse allegations were made by the children's mother, a 36-year-old marketing professional, who asked not to be identified to protect the identity of her daughters.

The welcoming atmosphere and the beginning of the abuse.

The victims' mother told GLOBO that she met Marlúcia in 2018 during pro-Bolsonaro demonstrations in São Paulo. They became friends and, in August 2023, Marlúcia contacted her in Buritizal, claiming financial difficulties and looking for a place to stay. “She said she was having some financial difficulties, that her retirement hadn't worked out, and that she needed to stay with me in the countryside for a while. She offered to take care of my daughters while I worked. And that's how she came to my house. I didn't think anything of it,” the mother recounted.

However, living with Marlúcia quickly brought worrying changes in the children's behavior. The youngest daughter, two years old and diagnosed with autism, began to cry incessantly, woke up startled, and refused food. The oldest, eight years old, with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), became withdrawn and isolated. Furthermore, the baby presented with frequent bruises, which were even recorded by the daycare she attended.

The accounts that revealed the violence

The situation worsened at the end of 2023, when incidents involving the mother's nephews raised further suspicions. A cousin of the children witnessed Marlúcia assaulting the baby, "shaking the girl forcefully and throwing her to the ground, leaving her disoriented." When questioned, Marlúcia allegedly claimed it was just a "joke." A conversation between the children during a snack also raised an alarm: "I remember one day my nephews were at home eating panettone, near the end of the year. One of them made a comment like: 'Oh, don't eat it all because otherwise it'll be [the older cousin's] fault and that woman won't let her eat anymore.' And I said: 'What? Who won't let her eat?' They looked at each other, changed the subject, and left," the mother recounted.

The next day, the mother confronted her eldest daughter. “I waited for Marlúcia to leave, because she had arranged a job with a woman who makes cakes in the city. I spoke to my eldest daughter: 'Let's talk. What's going on?'. She started crying and I noticed her chin was trembling, scared. And then she said: 'Mom, promise you won't tell anyone that it was me who told you?'”, the mother recalled.

The child then revealed a routine of daily mistreatmentThe abuse included neglect, food restriction, and physical and psychological abuse. The eldest daughter was frequently locked out of the house, exposed to the sun, under the pretext that Marlúcia was cleaning the property. “Alana* said she had wet her clothes, couldn't drink water, couldn't go to the bathroom, and had to jump out of her bedroom window because she was feeling unwell outside in the sun. She did it out of malice, out of wickedness. You don't put a child outside to clean a house,” the mother denounced. Despite the house being stocked with food, the children were not fed. A teacher of the eldest daughter even commented that the girl always arrived at school hungry. “I noticed that she was making a mess of the pantry and a lot of things were going to waste. I asked her if the children weren't eating, and she said that the girls 'didn't like' [to eat]. But my daughter told me that, in fact, it was she who wouldn't let them. She would say, 'It's past breakfast time, now you're not going to eat anything,' for example.” The verbal abuse was also constant. The older daughter was the target of insults and cruel comparisons: “She called my daughter stupid, said she would never learn to read or write. She compared her to other children,” the mother recounted. The baby, in turn, was physically abused: “She would drown the baby in the bathtub, hit her with a slipper. My older daughter says she saw all of this,” she lamented.

The arrest and revelation of the fugitive.

After the shocking accounts, the mother decided to kick Marlúcia out of the house. Before contacting the Child Protective Services, she called Marlúcia's daughter, who alerted her to an arrest warrant related to the events of January 8th and revealed that her mother was a fugitive. Marlúcia's own daughter encouraged the report. “I called her daughter and said, 'Get your mother here.' Her daughter told me to call the police. She said Marlúcia was a fugitive, that her own husband had already reported her, and that I should call the police. I went to the square, talked to a police officer friend. They went to where she was and took her to the police station. She was arrested because I reported her,” the mother stated. After Marlúcia's arrest, the victims' mother contacted the Child Protective Services, and the case was forwarded to the Public Prosecutor's Office. The investigation, which is proceeding confidentially, revealed that Marlúcia already had a criminal record, including an accusation in Guarulhos for crimes against honor.

Suspected sexual abuse and change in the process.

New evidence pointed to possible sexual abuse. In a recent statement, the older daughter reported that Marlúcia took photos and videos of her baby sister's private parts. The younger child also began to exhibit behaviors considered unusual: "She started inserting objects into her vagina, touching our genitals. She didn't have that habit," said the mother. Given the seriousness of the new allegations, the case was transferred from the Special Criminal Court to the Criminal Court, and the Public Prosecutor's Office requested that the investigation be returned to the Police Station for further investigation, including the seizure of Marlúcia's cell phone.

The family's lawyer, Wellington Santos, stated that Marlúcia denies the accusations and alleges retaliation: “Initially she denies the accusations, saying that this was retaliation from Aurora* because she stopped contributing financially to the household with Aurora. Which makes no sense at all. She was the one who went to live with Aurora. In return, she took care of the girls while Aurora worked. This version of hers doesn't make sense,” declared the lawyer. Regarding the accusation of sexual abuse, Marlúcia has not yet formally responded in the court records.

The Public Prosecutor's Office considered a plea bargain proposal worth approximately R$ 706 in 2024, but the seriousness of the new elements led to a reorientation of the process. Marlúcia Ramiro's defense has not commented on the accusations.

The past and conflicting behavior

A former neighbor of Marlúcia in Guarulhos, who preferred to remain anonymous, described her as a person with conflictive behavior who "didn't get along with her sisters." "Very crazy. She lived alone with her youngest son across from my house because her father didn't want her in his house, which was on the same street. Her parents raised her eldest daughter. She always spoke very badly of her family, including her father, whom she cared for until he died. After he died, she got involved in politics. Always thinking she was superior for campaigning for Bolsonaro," the former neighbor recounted. The former neighbor also questioned the defense's claims of health problems, which were used to try to obtain house arrest. “During a Lula campaign event in Guarulhos, she threw bread and mortadella at the people at the rally. She even hurt her foot on the truck. Regarding her health, which people say has problems, she was always traveling around. She always participated in trips. If she had so many problems, she wouldn't be in Brasília breaking things, nor would she have spent so many days sleeping in a tent in front of the barracks,” he opined.

Marlúcia Ramiro, whose preventive detention was ordered by the Federal Police for her participation in the coup attempts, advertised caravans to Brasília on her social media, organizing trips for supporters of former president Jair Bolsonaro. Her Facebook profile remained active until 2022.
