Beatriz Cerqueira proposes law to support miners in emergencies abroad.

The congresswoman drafted the bill after Brazilian Juliana Marins fell and died during a hike in Indonesia.

247 - State deputy Beatriz Cerqueira (PT) presented this Wednesday (26), in the Legislative Assembly of Minas Gerais, a proposal with the objective of authorizing the State of Minas Gerais to provide humanitarian assistance to people who are in an emergency situation outside of Brazil.

The congresswoman drafted the bill after Brazilian Juliana Marins fell during a hike in Mount Rinjani National Park on June 20th in Indonesia. The 24-year-old was trapped approximately 650 meters deep, and her death was confirmed after four days of rescue attempts.

“We want a law that protects people who are born and reside in Minas Gerais, so that no family has to go through what Juliana Marins' family went through,” Beatriz Cerqueira stated in a note sent to [the media outlet]. State of Minas.

Brazilian Juliana Marins lived in Niterói (RJ). According to Bill No. 3.996/2025, presented by Beatriz and covering the territory of Minas Gerais, the state government may cover expenses such as hospitalization, acquisition of medical items, emergency humanitarian care and, in more serious cases, body transfer, cremation and sending of mortal remains of Brazilian citizens residing in the state who die abroad.
