Rio Agency - The work for the construction of Metro Line 4 will take another step starting this Wednesday (16). Continuing the soil treatment services on Rua Barão da Torre, in Ipanema, south of Rio, the section between Rua Farme de Amoedo and Rua Vinícius de Moraes will be closed and vehicle access will be restricted to residents. The alternative route for circulation in the neighborhood will be to use Rua Nascimento Silva.

Signage will be reinforced and traffic officers will be on site to guide drivers. The roadwork, defined in conjunction with CET-Rio (Rio de Janeiro Traffic Engineering Company), will last until December 2013. During the work, parking will be prohibited in this section.

If any garages are blocked during this period, the Linha 4 Sul Consortium, responsible for the works, will provide parking spaces to residents of the affected buildings. Each building will be notified in advance about the closure.

More than 300 people will use Metro Line 4 every day.

Starting in 2016, Line 4 of the Rio de Janeiro Metro will transport more than 300 people per day and remove approximately 2 vehicles per peak hour from the streets. With the new line, passengers will be able to use the entire city's metro system with a single fare.
There will be six stations (Jardim Oceânico, São Conrado, Gávea, Antero de Quental, Jardim de Alah and Nossa Senhora da Paz) and approximately 16 kilometers of track. Metro Line 4 will begin operating in the first half of 2016, after undergoing a testing phase.
