The death toll in Petrópolis rises to 232.

247 - The number of people killed since the 15th, when heavy rains began to fall in the municipality of Petrópolis, in the mountainous region of the state of Rio de Janeiro, has risen to 232. Of the total, 138 are women and 94 are men. Among them are 44 minors. As of Tuesday (01), 210 people had been buried in the city's cemetery.

According to the Folha de S.Paulo newspaperCurrently, a total of 1.117 people are homeless. There are 34 shelters where the homeless receive assistance with personal hygiene, healthcare, and psychological support.

The city hall informed that those in the shelters have been registered in the Social Rent program. These people will be entitled to R$ 1.000, with R$ 800 paid by the state government and R$ 200 by the city hall.

Since the day of the tragedy, Civil Defense has recorded more than 3.800 incidents, of which 3.200 are due to landslides.

The Federation of Industries of Rio de Janeiro (Firjan) estimated that the city's GDP (Gross Domestic Product) will suffer losses of R$ 665 million due to the damage caused by the storm.
